About Us
At the start of the Covid pandemic in March 2020, individual members of the community and local groups started working together to help members of the community by sourcing volunteers, gathering and distributing essential items to residents, organising prescription delieveries and lots more. Over 150 residents stepped forward to volunteer with Pocklington Covid-19 Community Volunteers and thats not including the 100s of others who took part in other initiatives that were also progressed alongside Pocklington Covid-19 Volunteers.
Hereby started strong partnerships with Pocklington Town Council, Pocklington Rugby In The Community and Pocklington Active Towns, who then went on to co-organise End Of PockDown 2021, a community event that was totally free for residents to help bring some cheer to a difficult and challenging 2 years, local businesses also attended, helping kickstart them again.

Lots of individuals, local groups, clubs and organisations working together for the greater good of the community proved to be a great success in achieving more in a short space of time that had been seen in many years, evidencing that by working together, more could be achieved.

It was at this point that it was identified, after the sad closure of Love Pock website, that there was no one place that listed information about Pocklington whereby, if needed again in the future, people could tap into and utilise as a resource to reconnect everyone quickly and with minimal effort, hence this website. A resource for today and forever, so there is no longer the need for isolated lists on peoples dinner tables and people scrambling bits of information from here and there, only to be thrown in the bin when no longer needed by that person.

Pocklington Community Cohesion Project has been named as the overarching, umberella brand name for bringing everything together. The website gives a joint approach but shows the individuality and uniqueness of each of the partners listed, it is no way intended to replace any initiatives that are on-going in Pocklington, its purely another resource to support those initiatives and help promote the town in a positive way, this website wants to support and promote everything Pocklington!

We welcome any group, club, business, initiatives, projects, charity or any other form of establishment to utilise the Community project website to help with resources, information, support, promotion and general partnership working, by working together we build a stronger community.
